22 Months of Barrel Aging for a Very Special Porter
Evening Colours by Põhjala is an exceptionally intense Imperial Baltic Porter from the Estonian brewery's Cellar Series. The beer is aged for a full 22 months in former Tawny Port wine barrels, developing a deep, vinous, and wonderfully complex character.
Even on the nose, juicy dark fruits meet chocolate: cherry and ripe plum combine with fine vanilla, dark chocolate, and freshly baked rye bread.
On the palate, Evening Colours begins fruity and chocolatey before powerful roasted, malty, and cocoa notes take over. In the long finish, rye bread and chocolate return, accompanied by a fine fruit sweetness and a pleasant warmth.
At 11.5% ABV, this is not a beer to drink casually, but a powerful Barrel Aged Porter for slow discovery and enjoyment.
